Practice Nurses
We have practice nurses at both our surgery sites and they are available
by appointment. They are able to dress wounds, remove stitches, take
blood samples, carry out vaccinations and give travel advice, etc. They
are also specially trained to monitor certain conditions including blood
pressure, contraception, asthma and diabetes. As well as caring for
patients with specific problems, they help to promote a healthy lifestyle
for all patients and will help with general advice on all health matters.

Specialist nurses now hold surgeries most weekdays for minor illnesses.

illness to all age groups. They also provide antenatal classes. They can
be contacted every weekday from 9.00am to 10.00am on 01273 493488.
(They have an answerphone outside these times).
Community Nurses
These nurses work with the doctors in providing nursing care for
patients confined to their homes. They will assess the nursing needs
of the housebound, acute and chronic sick, or those who have had
recent operations and can provide advice on incontinence and nursing
aids. They will also advise and support carers and will refer to other
agencies or specialist nurses in the community as necessary. Their
aim is to enable patients to live an independant and dignified life.
They can be contacted direct on 01273 492327 (answerphone).
Midwife
The community midwife has a weekly clinic at the Medical Centre
on Thursday afternoons and a monthly clinic at Partridge Green surgery
on Wednesday afternoons. After visits to hospital in the first half of
pregnancy all subsequent routine antenatal checks are held at the
surgery with your own GP and midwife. Your doctor and midwife
also visit new mothers after return to their home.
Physiotherapist
Our physiotherapist, Adrian Schouten, operates from a large purpose
built unit at the Medical Centre and treats both NHS and private patients.
For NHS treatment you will need to be referred by your doctor but
private patients may self refer unless your insurance company insists on
a GP referral. For physiotherapy appointments telephone 01273 495990.
Social Worker
Social workers give advice and in some cases practical assistance on
all family problems, problems with the elderly, the disabled, etc. They
can be contacted on 01403 213100 during office hours. (Answerphone
out of office hours).

A speech therapist visits the Medical Centre every week to treat
children under the age of six. Please contact your doctor or health
visitor for a referral.
